The Baby House situated in Umhlanga Rocks Durban South Africa and provides a safe refuge for up to 6 abandoned babies at a time. All the babies are between the ages of one day to 12 months. The purpose is to provide a safe haven for the babies until they can be placed in permanent homes either through adoption or by returning them to their biological extended families. The Baby House provides quality care, nutrition, and love while these infants need it the most.

The Baby House is heavily dependant on volunteer staffing from the community. Volunteers register and commit themselves to a time slot on a roster and join with others in whatever needs to be done.

The Baby House has 6 cots, each with a Winnie the Pooh BRAND!!

Each Cot can be sponsored and these are the details of the babies in each cot. As the babies are "wards of the state". Pictures of the babies faces are expressly forbidden by Durban Children's Society.

Baby 1:
Baby 1 is a very special little baby, she has cerebral palsy which effects her life in many ways, besides the cerebral palsy she is a very happy baby full of smiles and laughter, her favourite thing to do is to splash in a bath full of cool water on a hot day. She was found in a bath room. She lives in the "Piglet" cot and the sponsor is "Plan for Life". (www.planforlife.co.za)

Baby 2:
Baby 2 is a baby boy he is a very shy little boy, he enjoys play with his toys and exploring outside, he was abandoned at 6 months old he was very upset and angry when he arrived but has changed into a very happy and loving boy. He lives in the "Rabbit" cot which does not yet have a sponsor.

Baby 3:
Baby 3 is a tiny little girl, she arrived with us at 2 days old, and is only 5 weeks old at the moment. She really enjoys being held. She was put up for adoption. She lives in the "Eeyore" cot which does not yet have a sponsor.

Baby 4:
Baby 4 is a 7 week old baby boy , who enjoys eating and sleeps a lot. He was abandoned at hospital. He lives in the "Winnie-the-Pooh" cot which does not yet have a sponsor yet.
